Tunnelling Troubles?
A Step by Step Guide 🤎
🐺 Got a Tunnelled Candle?
No worries, pack leader - we’ve got a little foil magic to bring your candle back from the edge. Follow this easy howl-to guide and let that wax melt like it means it.
🔧 You’ll Need:
- A sheet of aluminium foil (your candle’s silver cape)
- A lighter or matches (fire it up)
- Scissors (if you’re feeling fancy)
- Your tunnelled candle (don’t worry, we’ve got its back)
🔥 Let's Howl:
Step 1: Trim That Wick
Give your wick a quick snip to remove any possible mushrooming. Neat, clean, and ready to burn like a boss. Not too short for this process, we need that extra length, so the wick isn’t drowned with the melting sides.
Step 2: Tear Some Foil
Rip off about 20-25cm of foil. No precision needed, wolves don’t measure.
Its your call - just make sure it’ll wrap around the candle top.
Step 3: Wrap & Leave Room to Breathe
Wrap the foil around the rim like a cosy collar.
BUT… leave a hole in the centre (2-3cm wide) so your flame can stretch its legs.
Make sure that stubborn tunnel of wax is covered, the foil helps heat reflect and smooth things out.
Step 4: Light it Up
Fire up that wick and let the magic begin. The foil will hold the heat in, melting the outer wax and reshaping the top like new. This is where we need that little extra length in our wick.
Step 5: Supervise the Burn
Let it burn for about an hour (sniff, sip and chill while you wait).
Stay nearby, wolves don’t wander when fire’s around.
Step 6: Peak & Peel it Off
Keep a sharp eye out for that full melt pool. Once the top is smooth and even, carefully remove the foil (it might be toasty). Blow it out and let your candle cool like the legend it is.
Step 7: Keep it Smooth from Now On
Each burn. Light it & let it melt edge to edge (should take about 3-4 hours depending on vessel size).
✅ Top Tips from the Pack:
- Never burn for more than 4 hours - your wick needs rest too.
- Trim your wick before each use and keep it out of drafts - wolves like calm air.
- Foil trick can be reused. Lit your candle and then had to blow it out before it reached a full melt pool? Never fear… No shame in a little candle rehab.
- Celebrate with a cosy moment once your candle’s back in shape.
